Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is a famous Indian actress, who gained notoriety for her roles in the film Hum Aapke Hin Koun and Beta Saajan. In the 80s, she began her acting career and was a hit with her part of Tezaab. In the film, she appeared alongside veteran actor Anil Kapooor. In the next film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared as well. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she began learning to dance as a child. As a young woman when she began to act, she was not successful as a lot films she made were unpopular. They gained fame, and soon she was one of India's top film actors. Following her marriage her husband died, she took time off from acting before returning. Recently, she was an important player in Gulaab Gang about Indian women. Dixit has been nominated 15 times for Filmfare Awards. She won eight of them. She was also honored with the Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian distinction in India. Her work in the social field is well-known.
